The word is out…
Netflix are planning an ambitious launch of its footprint to 200 countries in the space of two years as part of its rollout agenda, which includes Spain.
Some sources say that Netflix has already negotiated deals with major Hollywood studios for Spanish right with the intended start date as early as the 1st of September 2015.
This is not the first time Netflix has tried to launch in Spain, in 2011 they came very close and even offered contracts to distributors for content. Netflix eventually called off the negotiations due to Spain’s high levels of piracy in the sector.
Since Spain’s exclusion from Netflix rollout to 6 European countries, some things have changed such its emergence from the recession which saw a 1.4%. increase in GDP growth due to the positive impact of consumer spending.
A Netflix spokesperson has declined to comment however did point to the company’s announcement that it planned to complete its global expansion by the end of 2016.
