OFFLEY TAWNY PORTO
Available at Iceland Overseas Supermarkets priced at 5·50€
I don’t feel like too much of a traitor in choosing a Portuguese wine, rather than a wine from Spain, as the first Telitec Wine of the Month. It is, after all, from the Iberian Peninsular! Plus of course – it’s Christmas and if you’re at all like me, you’ll love to drink Port, the fortified wine of Portugal, during the festive season!
Tawny Port has the same brick-red colour as a fine old red wine and is classed as medium dry, making it an ideal aperitif drink for those with a slightly sweeter tooth, as well as an excellent post-dinner wine; and it can be perfectly paired with cheeses, especially blue cheese!
Offley’s Tawny Port has a slight nuttiness to it which also ensures a fine match with pan-fried almonds and roasted chestnuts for pre-dinner nibbles.
Once opened, keep it in the fridge where it will last for a week – then go to Iceland and buy another!
Enjoy!
