Have you ever had to walk through a dodgy underpass by yourself and had that shudder of apprehension run through you that there might be someone lurking nearby? Or been for a run in a quiet location where you don’t see many others and had that thought – what if? Perhaps your teenage kids are out on a date or with friends and you want to ensure where they are.
In today’s modern world where the need for safety has become more prominent than ever, there are many apps that have been created to help towards ensuring peace of mind for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones. Even though Spain has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe, crimes to occur!
Bsafe is a great looking, simple to use and completely free app with some clever features that works on iPhones (iOS version 6.1 or above) and Androids (Android version 2.3 or above).
Here’s what it can do:
SOS Alarm – if you are ever in trouble, send an alarm to your BSafe friends to alert them. You can set an option for a siren to sound when you press the alarm button. At the same time, this triggers BSafe to start recording video and voice as well as broadcasting your location to your BSafe friends. What’s more the video, voice, location and time stamps are all securely stored on BSafe’s servers and you will always have access to them if you need to share the information with the police.

Fake Call – For those bad dates where you really need an excuse to leave…you can set a timer for when you want to receive your phone call so make sure you have your excuse ready!
Invite a Friend – If you are ever walking alone, you can invite a friend to walk with you. Once they accept your invite, BSafe will notify you and then your friends can track your movements via a live GPS trace so you are secure in the knowledge that someone knows exactly where you are until you reach your destination.
Timer – This is useful for when out exercising. You can set a timer for Follow Me and define how long you want BSafe to monitor you. If you don’t check in on time, the BSafe alarm will be triggered and all your friends will be alerted. You can avoid freaking all your friends out though, by updating the timer as you go along.
Unlimited Friends – With BSafe you can have as many friends as you like. Safety in numbers means a broader safety net. The benefit is mutual too as if they download the app, then you automatically become their friend too – so you keep each other safe.
When you choose your primary contact, this person will receive not only a text message from you but a phone call too when in case of an emergency.
Although apps like BSafe can’t prevent crime they can go a long way to helping ensure peace of mind that friends can know where you are, help can be available a lot faster and you and your friends will know about any alert straight away.
