How we designed our Pop up Shop?
We did our research to see what other Pop up Shops looked like but soon realised that logistically we would need to be quite clever as I have a Renault Clio so there is limited space.
We thought to create a shop we needed a backdrop so looked into what would work outside, it has to be sturdy enough to stand the wind!! We found an exhibition wall:
The next step was to do the design. We decided to make a living room scene so it stood out and made people wonder what we were doing. We thought if we did a 50´s scene and added modern day technology into it this would show we could bring people into the 21st century even if they were stuck in the past!
We added a widescreen TV, a tablet, a laptop and a phone to a photo we got from istock. It was quite a comical scene as we wanted to make it a bit quirky.
We wanted to get as much use from the exhibition wall as possible so decided to print the back of it generic so it could be used at other brand awareness events that are not associated with our Pop up Shops and also in the office when it wasn´t being used:

We then needed to dress the stand to create an actual living room. Like I said before space wise we needed to be clever but then I found out I was pregnant so we also needed to make sure whatever we had was light as the Pop up Shops were a 6 month plan so we knew I would struggle with heavy things towards the end.
Anyway we bought a couple of recliners which would normally be used in the garden but to dress them we also bought a couple of nice blankets and cushions, making them look like cosy armchairs (but being a lot lighter and easier to store than actual armchairs). Then we bought a round light fold away table and a table cloth to make it look pretty. We also got a rug to make it look cosy.
I was outside a charity shop on the first Pop up Shop and managed to buy a nice tea set too which finished it off perfectly, along with a few OK magazines lol.
Along with this set up looking good it is also very comfy when clients come and stop to talk to us.
We usually have a promo stand for little events we do so we decided that would be good to use too but we just had to change the design to fit in with the Pop up Shop scene.
The promo stands are very good to store all paperwork and also gives you a place to put your bag which is safer than leaving it out.
The end result!!
What Else?
Once we had everything for the actual Pop up Shop itself we needed to get the posters printed, Pop up Spot stickers, boxes and vouchers as mentioned on the last blog.
The last thing we had to do was change our leaflets to incorporate the Pop up Shops as these go everywhere and are a good way for us to get people to look at our adverts in the paper to see where we´ll be next!
In our next blog we´ll let you know where we were and how the Pop up Shops worked for us!
