It’s so annoying when you’re streaming your current favourite tv programme, only to have it keep pausing while it buffers every five minutes. Netflicks have identified this as a real problem, – especially in their line of business, it can’t do to have lots of customers frustrated by the interrupted viewing. So their contribution to solving the problem is their brand new website “Fast.com”.
As soon as you go on to the site, it starts checking your signal strength. It’s a pretty basic website, as far as websites go…but it gives you the ability to check how strong your internet connection is anywhere in the world. Congestion with your internet service provider or on your own network can make internet speeds vary greatly and although Fast.com won’t improve your connection, it will identify a problem that you can report to your internet service provider.
What’s nice about the site is that there are no annoying adverts flashing at you, just the simple colours of the site and a small “Powered by Netflix” logo at the bottom of the page. And you don’t need to be a Netflicks subscriber to use it either, so you can your connection from literally anywhere in the world on either broadband or mobile connections. You can also check from your laptop, tablet or smart TV.
The release of Fast.com has been timed to coincide with the recent release of new settings for Netflicks customers, which allows them to set how much data they use when streaming.
